Welcome

Royal & Select Masons is a fraternal organization whose members are drawn from the ranks of Free & Accepted Masons, also known as Freemasons or Masons.  It is one of three organizations which together form the York Rite of Freemasonry [the other two being Royal Arch Masons and Knights Templar].

The roots of Council degrees can be traced back to the 18th century when traveling Masonic lecturers began conferring detached degrees on Masons while instructing them in Lodge and Chapter degrees.  The first Grand Council was formed in Connecticut in 1819.  The Council degrees deal with man's search for life's purpose and the nature of God.

Lakewood Council traces its roots back to 1920.  It is chartered under the authority of the Grand Council of Royal & Select Masons of Ohio.

Lakewood Council holds one stated assembly each month, except July and August.

Any man who is a member in good standing of a Masonic Lodge and a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons may petition for membership.  For information on membership, please contact our Council Recorder or download our petition form.  Petitions for degrees must be accompanied by our current fee of $58.
